Welcome to the 2010 hockey season at Carey.
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves.
Jacki Magee is the teacher in of Hockey and Di Maxwell is the President of the Carey Hockey Parents’ Association (the Carey Hockey Club).
This year there have been a number of changes with accessing
information regarding co curricular activities. Information regarding
hockey can be accessed by going to CareyLink > Life @ Carey >

Uniform
This year to avoid issue with uniforms clashing the school has introduced clash socks. These are required for the season and can be purchased at Bob Stewarts in Kew.
Parent Team managers
We are looking for parents who would be willing to manage a Middle School team.

Carey Student selected for Victoria at 2010 Australian U/18 Championships
Congratulations to Sophie Taylor (yr 9) for her selection in the Victorian U/18 Womens team that will compete at the Australian Championships held at Port Lincoln from the 13-25 April - great effort Sophie!
Carey Hockey players selected for State Indoor Teams
Congratulations to year 10 students Phoebe Ulrick & Liam Harper for their selection in their respective Victorian U16 State Indoor Hockey teams. Congratulations also to Matthew Drakos, Year 7, for his selection in the Victorian U14 Bushrangers team. They will compete for the 'Big V' at Gosford in early January 2010.
Carey students shine at 2009 Junior State Hockey Championships
During the recent term holidays the Victorian Juntior State Hockey Championships were held at the State Netball & Hockey Centre in Parkville. Representative teams selected from the best players in each of 5 zones around Victoria competed in an round robin tournament in the Under 13, Under 14 & Under 15 age groups for both boys and girls.
Carey had the the following students competing:
U14 girls Sophie Taylor (Eastern Hotshots)
U15 girls Sophie Hodges, Jane Cutts, Laura Barden & Phobe Ulrick (Eastern Hotshots)
U13 boys Matthew Drakos (Eastern Hotshots)
U14 boys Nick Reilly (Eastern Hotshots)
U15 boys Sebastian Mann, Liam Harper & Will Vickers (Eastern Hotshots)
Sophie Hodges, Laura Barden (both Yr. 9) ,Jane Cutts and Phoebe Ulrick (both Yr.10) won the U/15 girls State Championship playing for the Hotshots Zone Team with Phoebe winning the award for being the tournament's top goal scorer. For the boys Matthew Drakos was a member of the victorious U13 team and Nick Reilly was a member of the victorious Eastern Hotshots U14 team.
As well as being a team competition the championships are used to select state representative teams in the U13 & U15 age groups to compete in the national championships. There is no national championship in the U14 age group, however a state development squad is chosen.
Sophie Taylor (Yr. 8 ) ,Laura Barden (Yr 9) and Phobe Ulrick (Yr. 10) were selected for the U15 Girls state team.
Sophie Hodges (Yr. 9) and Jane Cutts (Yr. 10) were selected in the U15 Girls State development squad.
Sebastian Mann (Yr. 9) was selected in the U15 Boys State development squad.
Carey Student shines for Victoria at Australian U/18 Championships
Congratulations to Meg Lanning for her stellar performance in the Victorian U/18 Womens team which competed at the Australian Championships held in Canberra from the 30th June - 11th July 2009. She was a key contributor in a Victorian team that were the eventual runners up to Western Australia, losing 3-1 in a hard fought final. Meg was also the tournament's top goal scorer.
2009 Presentation Evening
After a successful Hockey season it is time for the coaches, players, and their families to come together to celebrate sporting achievement at the 2009 Presentation Night.
When: Saturday, 8th August

Time: From 6.30pm
Cost: $25 per head (includes GST)
BYO: Wine
The cost of $25 per person (incl GST) will be charged to your school account.
For those families where their yr 12 student is the last child at Carey it would be preferred that payment be made via cheque.

Carey Student Selected in State U/18 Womens team
Congratulations to Meg Lanning for her selection in the Victorian U/18 Womens team which will compete at the Australian Championships to be held in Canberra from the 30th June - 11th July 2009. The selection caps off a great year for Meg in which she was also a member of the State League 1 premiership team at Hawthorn.

2008 Presentation Evening
The Carey Hockey Club presentation dinner was held in the quadrangle on Saturday, August 1st.
The 2008 hockey season culminated in over 250 players and their families enjoying a wonderful evening celebrating the perfomances and conquests of the Carey Hockey teams from year 7 to year 12. Congratulations to all teams, their managers, their coaches and their award winners.
A big thank-you also to the evening's sponsor, Jellis Craig, for their generous support of the Carey Hockey Club.

All of the above players play club hockey for Camberwell, with the exception of Scarlett who plays for Kew.
