Carey Softball 1sts 33 defeat Assumption College 5
In the final game of the season the softball 1sts showed the extent of their skills in an excellent victory over a very strong Assumption team. The girls came out strong from word go and never let up continually growing on their score each turn at bat and maintaining a sold fielding defence. The final score being Carey 33 defeats Assumption 5. Our batting was the best it has been all season with every girl getting at outfield hit and getting home on more than one occasions. Batting highlight include Lucy Tusan and Shevaun Hayes each hitting a home runs. Well done to all the girls on their aggressive base running. When it came to fielding Carey worked as a solid unit never letting a ball go past the outfielders. Well done to Lucy Tusan, Amy Prosser and Cahlia Haslem took some great catches. A big thanks and well done go to Jess Reece, Amy Prosser and Megan Metcalfe on some fantastic pitching. Well done also to Marisa Lai on a great pass ball tag out while catching the entire match. Well done girls on six wins in a row.
The 2009/2010 season had seen the Carey softball team go from strength to strength and this coming out in the score lines. With six wins for the season these girls have finished equal second on the ladder by points. We would like to thank each team member for their exceptional effort this season and their dedication to learn and grow as a person and as a softballer. A big part of out victory is due to our three year 12’s. They are three incredible players who build the team and motivate the younger team members in all situations.
Marisa Lai – She has been a 1sts for many years and has built up a skill level that is fantastic. She catches every match and is constantly motivating and helping out those around here.
Jess Reece – She has been thrown into a pitching position the last two seasons of the firsts and she goes out their strong without a complaint. She is a great fielder and fantastic base runner.
Amy Prosser - For the past two years Amy has been pitching and playing 3rd base. She is a solid fielder and this year was named Vice Captain. She is a great batter with constant outfield hits.
Thank you and well done to these three fabulous players. They have been great team member and a pleasure to coach. We wish you the best of luck for year 12 and the future. You will be sorely missed by the team and us.

Carey Softball 1sts vs Yarra Valley at Yarra Valley Saturday Feb 20, 2010
Carey 21 def. Yarra Valley 8.
The Carey softball 1sts are three for three in 2010 with our third straight win against Yarra Valley. Initially the game was tight with both teams scoring evenly in the first innings until Carey fired up to take the match 21 to 8. After a sleepy beginning to the match Carey began to show their skill with some excellent fielding by all including a great outfield catch by Phoebe Ulrick. Well done to Amy Prosser and Jess Reece who once again shone with their pitching. Although Carey were good in the field their batting was even better. Facing a slightly faster pitcher then the past two weeks never fazed the team with every player hitting the ball on numerous occasions. Well done Lucy Tusan who again hit another 3 home runs. Cahlia Haslem is our newest member to the home run club with an excellent home run over the outfield followed up with superb base running. Well done to all the girls on a great team effort.

Assembly Sports Report - December 2009
The Carey Softballers have had a tough start to the season playing the two strongest teams in the competition, Caulfield Grammar and Wesley College. Our girls have been stoic in their games although sometimes a lack of concentration at key moments has cost us runs. We welcomed Cahlia Haslam from year 7 into our team. Cahlia is a skilled player who we hope will be with the softball program for many years to come! Unfortunately as we welcomed Cahlia, Lucy Tusan was injured in a community match and missed the match against Wesley and played (still injured!) in a limited way against Caulfield. We have had many contributions especially from Amy Prosser, Jess Reece, Phoebe Ulrick and Marisa Lai. We re-commence training on 27th January and look forward to the rest of the firsts competition in 2010.
