Carey Boat Club(CBC)
The Carey Boat Club promotes and supports the sport of rowing at Carey. All rowers, coxswains and their families as well as staff involved in rowing are automatically members of the Carey Boat Club.
The Boat Club is managed by a committee of volunteer parents, as well as the Director of Rowing and the Junior Rowing Coordinator. The committee meets once a month throughout the year and is involved in organizing social events and assisting the rowing staff with communications to rowing families.
In addition and importantly, the Boat Club committee organizes several fundraising initiatives which yield significant contributions to the purchase of rowing equipment. This contribution helps enable the school to offer rowing to all students at Carey without extra fees being charged, as is the case at many other rowing schools.
The Boat Club committee comprises an executive group of 5 and up to 15 general committee members. Ideally, male & female rowers are equally represented on the committee as well as rowers from each of the year levels in the program. There are a number of support roles available for those wishing to help without being an executive or general committee member.
Being on the committee is a rewarding and enjoyable experience, with friendships developed through the common interest in a sport which is competed at several truly picturesque riverside locations in Victoria.
